Does the background have to be white for a CNI?

No. For the French national identity card, the background must be plain and light-coloured (light grey or light blue preferred). Pure white is discouraged. Our tool automatically applies a compliant background.

Can I keep my glasses?

Glasses are tolerated if they create no reflections and the lenses are not tinted. The frame must not obscure the eyes. When in doubt, a photo without glasses is safer.

Can my CNI photo be used for a passport?
