What is the ANTS photo?
ANTS (the French National Secure Documents Agency) issues official French documents. For an online procedure (passport, ID card, driving licence), it requires an e-photo: a photo accompanied by a digital signature, summarised by a code to enter in your application.
Point important — this e-photo code can only be generated by an approved photographer or an approved booth connected to the ANTS system, because the photo must be captured on site — this is what guarantees its authenticity. Online services offering this code therefore rely on a partnership with an approved ePhoto photographer. As of today, PhotoID does not yet issue the e-photo, but is currently setting up this type of partnership to offer it to you soon.
What does PhotoID do for an ANTS procedure?
Our tool checks, criterion by criterion, that your photo meets ANTS standards (background, framing, expression, 35×45 mm format) and provides you with a corrected version, ready to print. Two use cases:
- Counter route (no code) — print the sheet and hand your photos over at the town hall or prefecture counter during your appointment. No code is required.
- Online route (with code) — to get the e-photo code, visit an approved photographer or booth. Find the nearest ones via our Near Me and Photobooth directories.
